How many points did I earn? July 2024 Updates
Mid-June to mid-July was a busy time for me. I headed to Rochester for 24 hours and a couple weeks later I headed to the Bahamas with my Mom and niece for a few days. While we were in the Bahamas, my nephew was in South Africa. I added him to my Chase Sapphire Preferred as an Authorized User so he had a credit card for emergencies. There were no emergencies and instead, he bought something at every excursion.
Outside of these trips and purchasing flights for my August travel, the rest of my points were from regular spending!
My May to June purchasing can be found at How many Points did I earn in June 2024 if you want to do a comparison.

July Points Follow-Up
I opened a new card because I needed to pay my state taxes. It felt like I should make sure I benefit from it, so I opened up a Chase Ink Business Cash. There is a fee to pay your taxes, but earning the points outweighs that fee.
I chose this card because it broke up the sign-up bonus, if you spend $3,000 in 3 months you get 35,000 points and then if you spend another $3,000 in 3 months you get 40,000. So the spend and sign-up bonus is the same but this time it is 6 months instead of the normal 3 months to spend $6,000. I also needed a new computer because I dropped my other one on the cement on the way to work, so this was perfect timing!
August Points Goal
I am flying a few times in July, mainly on Delta. I want to maintain my Gold Medallion Status with Delta so I am thinking about what it looks like to switch up some of my spending onto that card. This is not always the best card for my purchases, so I am currently weighing my options. I do need to purchase at least 7 more flights but I do not think they will reach the $5000 MQD threshold that I need since all of them are domestic trips!
I will also focus on ensuring that all my cards are paid off in the next few months. I do not carry a balance on any of my personal cards but I currently have a balance on my business cards since they offered 0% interest for 12 months. I want to pay these off by December so I am going to be reworking things to make sure I meet that goal!
I do not have plans to open another card since I am working on the sub for the Chase Business Ink Cash that I opened and I do not have any major purchases unless I pay for a financial planner. However, I could use that payment to reach the second part of my sign-up bonus! We will see.
