7 Free and Kid Friendly Activities at Hyatt Baha Mar
Heading to Grand Hyatt Baha Mar with Kids: Keep Reading to make it affordable!
Let’s check out some kid-friendly activities at Hyatt Baha Mar! I just spent a few days at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar with my 12-year-old niece and I tried to stick to a budget and entertain her for nearly free. The only activity I paid for was our Swimming with Pigs Activity, which I booked via Viator, not through the hotel. It was significantly more expensive through the hotel than through the tour we booked. This is a great resort for your family vacation to the Bahamas and these activities will help you save money!
1. Baha Bay
Included in your stay is the water park, Baha Mar, that is attached to the property. It is located near the pier past the Marcus Restaurant. There are several slides, a splash pad, a lazy river, and more. I even went on a few of the slides with my niece and loved it. Keep in mind that it opens at 10 am and closes at 6 pm. This is a good place to head to after the flamingo parade in the mornings.
You do not need to make a reservation, simply show up and scan your wristband as you enter. Some of the rides will have height requirements, so make sure to have your child check their height as they enter.
In addition, make sure to bring your water shoes as the ground does get pretty warm as you are walking around from ride to ride! There are cubies to hold your belongings as you get on the slides.
If you are not staying at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar the cost to enter the water park is $65 or $160!
2. Games Outside
There are a few life-size games outside in the grass that you are free to play. In addition, Palm Lawn when not occupied is full of grass which is great for an impromptu soccer game. Many times as we walked around at night families were playing soccer or throwing a football around.
Not pictured is the Jenga game that is also available for you to play. This space was often open as I walked by and is great to use as you wait for your dinner reservations or as a break from the beach and/or pool during the day.
This is located near the tortoises so you can also pause here while waiting for your feeding time with them as well.
3. Movie Night and other Sponsored Events
While we were there, they hosted a free movie night and played Ice Age. It was located at the Drift pool and kids were able to splash around in the pool while watching Ice Age and eating popcorn.
The day before they were supposed to have a Coconuts and Sunset-themed event but it was rescheduled. At this event, they were going to have a live band, food, caricature art, and stilt walkers. We were really looking forward to this event but they rescheduled it to the day after we were leaving so we would not be able to attend.
Check out their website to see what free kid-friendly activities they are hosting during your stay.
4. Water Show
At dusk, they start a water show. The spraying water fountains are synched to the music and boast colorful lights. It happens every 15 minutes. My niece enjoyed this and spent time watching the show each time it came on. If your room is facing the fountains, you can even hear the music and see the lights from your balcony.
5. Flamingo Parade
At 9:30 am each morning, they bring a few flamingos out of the sanctuary. They walk through the hotel grounds and stop in the grassy area nearby. Once there, they give information about the flamingos and allow you to take photos. If you want great photos, I would stand a little further away from the sanctuary so that there are not a ton of people blocking the way and you can get great shots of the flamingos heading towards you.
If you miss the start of the parade, make sure to stand near the grassy area following the sanctuary so that you can still get time to interact with them before they go back to their sanctuary. This is a great place to interact with them so that you do not have to pay to feed them later.
6. Non-motorized Water Sports
While at the beach you have the opportunity to participate in free non-motorized water activities. They have kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and water trampolines.
7. Watch the turtle and sharks at the pool near the cave
One of the pools closest to the beach has a cave. Children can climb one side of it and jump off into the pool b on the other side, they can see the animals in the aquarium.
You have the option of swimming to the inside of the cave or walking around the pool and walking into the cave. There are two openings where you can view the fish, sharks, and turtles as you swim around the cave exploring.
I recommend going in the afternoon as there were fewer people when we went during this time as opposed to earlier in the day when many of the children were out and about with their parents.
If you want to spend money do these:
There are a few things that you can add to this list if you want to spend money. There is a game room located near Sugar Factory Restaurant that is open from 10:30 am to 11:00 pm. It was a ton of games for your children and games start at $1.00. You need to purchase a free game card and load it with either cash, charge to the room, or your credit card. Once they are done playing you are able to redeem the tokens for prizes.
In addition, there are several amenities that you can sign them up for such as the cooking class, kids club, and exploration club. These will allow your child to interact with wildlife, hang out with other kids, and even make their own dish! Make sure to pursue the website to find other activities for your children to make their vacation special.
Conclusion
This list of kid friendly activities at Hyatt Baha Mar will keep your children entertained for hours giving you time to relax and enjoy the ambiance of the resort. A family vacation to the Bahamas is the perfect summer vacation and these activities will help make it affordable.
