When does the Delta Stays Credit show up when using it?
Delta Stays Credit

I booked my hotel for Myrtle Beach on June 17, 2024, and on June 19, 2024, Delta emailed me saying I had redeemed my Delta Stays Credit. It showed up shortly after decreasing my overall balance on my card.

I have the Delta Platinum American Express Card, so I got a credit of $150 because the hotel I booked was over $150.

How do you book using your Delta Stays Credit?

To begin your booking, you need to head to the Delta Stays website and put in your destination. Keep in mind that for the credit to apply you cannot choose to pay at the property or reserve with a deposit. You must hit the option that says Pay now!

As I searched, most of the pay-now options were refundable within a certain number of days. So this is still a great option if you are still trying to make up your mind.

Do I still get American Express credit card points for my stay?

Yes, you will still receive points for booking your hotel stay with your Delta American Express Credit Card. I received 3x points for my hotel booking because of the card I have, Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express.

However, keep in mind that you will not earn qualifying nights for the major hotel chains because you are booking through a 3rd party site.

Since this is a third-party booking, I make sure to call the hotel to ensure that they have my reservation so that there are no mishaps when I arrive.

Is the Delta Stays Credit worth it?

Well, it depends. In this instance, the hotel that I booked was the same price on the hotel site as it is on the Delta website, saving me $150. Myrtle Beach hotels during the summer are very expensive, so I was excited to use this benefit to save money. I was not interested in trying to get credit for the night; instead, for this trip I was focused on finding a hotel that would not break the bank since I was only going to be staying for 24 hours.

However, this could potentially cost you money. For some hotels, the price could be higher on the Delta Stays website; therefore, while you are not paying all of the the total, you are overpaying. I would make sure to check both sites before booking.

Conclusion: How to use Delta Stays Credit

I would use the Delta Stays credit since you are paying for it with your benefits and annual fee. If you are not traveling, this may be a good time to do a staycation in your city to relax and rejuvenate.
