7 Must Do things in Phuket, Thailand: Your Ultimate Guide
There are many things to do in Phuket as you explore the island. From great restaurants and experiences to nightlife that will make your trip unforgettable. Most of my time in Thailand was spent in Phuket and I do not regret it,
These are the experiences that I would recommend you include as you tour Phuket.
1. Design Custom Pants
While walking through the market across the street from my hotel, Gran Mercure Patong Phuket, I came across many signs advertising custom pants and decided to head into one of the shops, David Jone Fashion.
After looking through a ton of books to figure out what I wanted, he did my measurements, I chose a color and in a few hours, the pants were made. He asked me to return to ensure fit and then a few hours later I had my pants. I loved them and would recommend them to anyone to use David Jone Fashion for their custom needs.
What I love even more, is that If I want more of them, all I have to do is reach out to have him make a few more since he kept my measurements on file. If you want to see my experience, check out Tailored Perfection, Getting Custom Pants in Thailand.
2. Visit Yona Beach Club
We booked a section at Yona Beach Club. You can find more information about sections and food here.
Yona Beach Club is a one-of-a-kind floating beach club located in the waters of the Andaman Sea. When you arrive at the pier, after checking in you get a welcome drink before they water shuttle you off to the beach club.
There are 3 floors, and the club features an infinity pool, restaurant, bar, and pool on the upper deck. You can purchase a section, or day pass on their site. To get more details about visiting, read Everything You Need to know before Visiting Yona Beach.
Make sure to reserve your section early, as the section we originally wanted sold out!
3. Rent a Private Long Boat to Island Hop
The tour that I booked can be found here. It was a private long boat tour for four people that included food. Before talking about the tour, I just want to say that the food was so good! It was Thai fried rice and fruit.
We explored the Phi Phi Islands and spent some time at Maya Beach. The private tour was perfect as it allowed you to choose how much time you spent on each island and skip the ones you were not interested in. Our guide was great and gave us recommendations for where to go and how much time to spend in each place.
Be prepared for a somewhat rocky journey as you head to the mainland. It made me a little nervous at points but I highly recommend this private tour and you can find out more by reading my tips for Phi Phi Islands
4. Feed Elephants
The tour of the Elephant Sanctuary that I visited can be found here. We met a taxi driver the day before and decided to hire him for the day. He took us to the Elephant Sanctuary + Big Buddha.
Upon entering the Elephant Sanctuary they give you a band depending on what type of tour was booked. We booked the Feed the Elephants tour which included background information regarding the elephants we interacted with before showing us the proper way to feed them. The elephants had options of pineapples or bananas to eat during the hour we were with them.
The elephants were not tied or chained but mainly stayed where they were as we fed them. A few times the elephants walked across the space and headed to get water or stand near some of their friends.
This is a family-friendly activity that all can participate in and if you want to see more read, Up Close with Elephants.
5. Visit the Big Buddha
Our second stop of the day was to the Big Buddha. Make sure that you have both your shoulders and knees covered or you will have to purchase scarves for 150THB or a dress for 450THB to cover up.
The view as you are driving up is amazing and once you begin walking to the foot of the statue you are able to fully take it in. Walking the steps to get closer, provides amazing views of Phuket. As we were leaving, we were able to see monks praying!
6. Party
If you want to party then Bangla Road is the place for you! it is a street full of bars, nightclubs, and stalls selling various goods.
Walking along the street, you will find Karaoke bars and Live bands at some venues. Whereas other venues, have people standing outside offering you deals to drink at their establishment. It is crowded and loud with people everywhere so you should be able to find your tribe.
I checked out some of the less crowded bars to drink to get my night started like Strawberry Social Club before checking out some other spots to end my night!
7. Ride in a Tuk Tuk
You cannot go to Thailand without renting a Tuk Tuk for at least one of your trips. On the way home from Yona Beach, we got in one and it was the same price as a cab!
You can connect your phone to the Tuk Tuk to play music as you head to your destination!
Conclusion
These experiences made my trip to Phuket a highlight of my year. I enjoyed the beaches and food and cannot wait to go back to try some more restaurants.

I love that you had your own pants made to fit and that they were ready in less than a day! Amazing.
I think I’d love to feed the elephants and then have pants made to fit before spending some time at the beach club – sounds like a good day to me!
This guide is perfect for anyone looking to experience the best of Phuket! Feeding elephants sounds like an unforgettable experience I definitely wouldn’t miss on the Elephant Sanctuary tour. Thanks for sharing!
