Things to do in Page, Arizona, and What to see in Page, Arizona

The first time I rolled into Page, Arizona, I did not expect the desert to take my breath away before I had even stepped out of the jeep. The red cliffs seemed to glow in the sunrise, and every turn in the road hinted at another jaw-dropping view. By the time I watched the sun rise, I knew one thing: this four-hour drive to Page, at 4 am, was worth it. It is a destination that deserves its own spotlight.

Whether you are here for a couple of days or a full week or even just a few hours like I was, this corner of northern Arizona packs more adventure into its borders than you might imagine. From iconic landmarks like Antelope Canyon to quiet lakeside escapes, Page offers experiences you simply will not find anywhere else.

In this guide, I am sharing three things to do in Page in just a few hours because sometimes that is all we have. Think gas station caves, the perfect time to book tours for the perfect photo opportunities, and tips to make each stop more magical. By the end, you will see why Page should be on your must-visit list and exactly how to make the most of your time here. Let’s check out things to see in Page, Arizona!

1. Explore Lower Antelope Canyon

Being surrounded by varying hues of red and hearing the stories of my guide made this tour the perfect start to my day in Page.

Lower Antelope Canyon

To visit Antelope Canyon, you must have a guide, regardless of the tour that you book, due to it being on the Navajo Land. There are two options when considering exploring the canyons: Upper and Lower. Make sure to choose wisely and think about your fitness level, as the Lower Antelope Canyon has many stairs you have to walk down. We chose Lower Antelope Canyon, and our tour cost $94 a person, which included the Navajo Nation Permit. Not all tours include this!

When deciding on what tour to book, I would recommend booking one mid-day if you want those iconic photos of the light shining through.

Something you may not know about the location of Antelope Canyon is that because it is on Navajo Land, during Daylight Saving time, it is on a different time zone than Phoenix, so be sure to read the fine print of the tour you book to ensure you will not miss it.

2. Horseshoe Bend

There is something magical about standing on the edge of a cliff and looking out at an amazing view, which stopped me in my tracks when I reached Horseshoe Bend.

Horseshoe Bend

After leaving our Antelope Canyon tour, we headed to Horseshoe Bend, which is located about 15 minutes away. On your way there, you pass the Shell Gas Station Cave, but I recommend doing that on your way back so that you can stop and get gas/snacks for your drive home.

Upon arrival at Horshoe Bend, you pay $10 to park. In the parking area, there are porta-potties in case you need to use the bathroom, but very little else.

The hike to the actual viewpoints is about 1 mile round-trip, and there is no shade. There are two areas that were built where you can pause to sit along the walkway that do offer shade, but the actual walk there is no shade, and it is rough if you go in the middle of the summer, like I did.

If you want to have some iconic photos, I would recommend coming early so you can see the sunrise over Horseshoe Bend.

3. Shell Gas Station Cave

As you walk up, you will not even believe it’s a cave and that your pictures will come out this good!

This was one of the least crowded spots we visited while in Page, and best of all, it was free.

It was funny because as we parked and headed up to the cave, which does not look like a cave as you walk towards it, another person asked if we had heard about it via TikTok! I had seen these shots on Instagram and knew I had to visit.

The Shell Gas Station Cave is a short distance from Horseshoe Bend and a great place to stop before heading back to Sedona, Scottsdale, or Phoenix to grab gas and snacks.

The Cave is located behind the gas station and is a short walk. It is a little steep, so make sure to walk slowly.

If you want to get the iconic Shell Gas Station photo, put your camera in .5 and you will need to tilt it up a little to get the full cave in the image.

Other Things to do in Page, Arizona, and Things to see in Page, Arizona

If you have more time in Page, there are tons of other things you can add to your itinerary as must-do tours in Page. I would add visiting Lake Powell, hiking some of the local trails, and a few of the other slot canyons, such as Waterholes Canyon. On my way back, if I had time, I would visit the Grand Canyon. Adding the Grand Canyon does add a bit of time if you are staying out in Phoenix, like I was.

Conclusion: Page, Arizona Things to Do

There are so many things to do and see in Page, but visiting Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Shell Gas Station must be on your list of things to do during your first visit. These three sites will leave you wanting to explore more of Page and hopefully make you want to visit again.
