Chase Q4 Bonus Categories 2025
Chase has announced its October 1 – December 31, 2025, bonus categories for Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex. These categories allow you to earn a 5% bonus on spending for specific categories.
The Chase Q3 Bonus Categories were Instacart, Gas Stations, EV Charging, and Select Live Entertainment. Hopefully, you have already activated these because September 14 was the last day to get the elevated bonus points.
What are the new Chase Q4 Bonus Categories for 2025?
- Old Navy
- Chase Travel
- Paypal (only December)
- Department Stores
This is a great way to pay for holiday gifts in December, especially using PayPal as your payment method. The bonus is that PayPal even lets you split payments into 4, so that makes me even happier!
For Department stores, think stores that sell multiple items, like a Macy’s. It does include purchases that are made online. However, Supercenters, discount stores, or specialty stores are not included in the category. Gift cards can be purchased at the store, but not through 3rd party vendors.
For Old Navy, you will not be able to pay via Klarna or make purchases via Gap Subsidiaries such as Athleta and Banana Republic.
How to earn additional Chase Points using the Chase Bonus Categories?
To make the most of this offer, I would pay for things in December using PayPal. You could also before December, use sites such as Rakuten, Capital One Shopping, so that you are not only earning Chase points but can earn Capital One and Amex points.
Sidenote: Old Navy has some great workout leggings, so make sure to check them out if you need workout clothing!
What about Chase Travel?
I personally do not use Chase Travel, but it may be beneficial at times, depending on what you are using it for and the cost. I always transfer my points out, so I would look at the different options before using Chase Travel exclusively for this deal.
I may potentially use Chase Travel for booking a rental car, is what I am currently thinking.
How do I make sure I am earning the 5% for the Chase Q4 Categories for 2025 on Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex?
You need to activate the bonus categories, and you can do that today! There are 6 ways to do that:
- Online: you can click here to activate
- Email: Check your email for activation
- Chase Mobile App: log in to the app to activate
- Phone: call the number on the back of your card, and a customer service rep can activate it for you.
- Chase: You can speak to a teller to help you activate the categories.
- ATM: If you are a Chase checking customer, you can activate the categories when withdrawing money.

Is there a limit to how much you can earn from the Chase Q4 Bonus Categories?
Yes, you are limited to $1,500. This can be tracked on the website. Once you reach the limit, it goes back down to 1%.
Is there a deadline for activating Chase Freedom Q4 2025 categories?
Yes, more than likely it will be around December 14, 2025. It has not been published yet, but based on the past quarter, this is my estimate. All purchases must be posted to your accounts by December 31, 2025, to receive the additional bonus points/cashback.
