5 Tips to for a Great Trip to Jamaica

Sharing is caring!

Jamaica is an amazing travel destination that is perfect for those seeking adventure but also for those who want to relax. As you prepare for your trip, choose a place to stay, and look for things to do, do not forget the following to make your trip easier and smoother for your entire party. When booking your trip, using points can make it even cheaper so make sure to check out your credit cards to cover some of your trip.

1. Fill out the C5 Form

Before heading to Jamaica, you will need to complete the C5 form. Delta did not ask me about the form, but one of my friends who was flying JetBlue was asked about it.

2. Sign – up for Club Mobay

Depending on the time you land, you might want to consider Club Monday due to the long customs lines. They offer expedited entry into the county including a lounge for you to wait in while your transportation arrives. At the lounge, you can indulge in drinks and local cuisine such as jerk chicken and rum punch.

I did not use it on my trip heading to Jamaica but did use it to leave. If you want to use it upon departure, please make a reservation. They were turning away people who did not have a reservation. If you have access to a Priority pass, you can use it to make your reservations.

Also when leaving they have an expedited line for both Priority Pass and Club Mobay at security. I saw it but did not use it. My friend did and was able to get through security quickly.

3. Arrange Transportation

You can either arrange transportation through your resort or simply call an Uber. I called an Uber once I got out of security and made my way outside. You receive a pin that you give to your driver once you meet them. My Uber was 4727.68 JMD which ended up being $30.22 USD. For my return, I had the hotel call me a cab. The cost was 6000 JMD or $40 USD. I had extra JMD left over so I used that to cover my return.

4. Bring small bills for tips

If you are staying at a resort, especially an all-inclusive please bring small bills for tips. Of course, I bought cash, but some of the bigger bills.

You do not need to exchange money if you do not want to. I gave my waitresses and bellhop USD.

I typically do change my money over but in this case I was rushing before the trip and did not have time to do that.

5. Nightlife

The venues we went to did not serve drinks; we had to buy a bottle. This is not the case at all venues, but remember when planning for nightlife, you may have to buy a bottle at times.

Conclusion

I had an amazing trip to Jamaica and loved my stay at the Secrets St. James. These tips can help you prepare for your trip to Jamaica! Let me know if you have any tips I should add.
