Chase has announced its October 1 – December 31, 2024 bonus categories for Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex. This allows you to earn a 5% bonus on all spending for these categories.
The Chase Q3 Categories, July 1- September 30, 2024, were Gas Stations, EV Charging, Select Live Entertainment, and Movie Theatres which were perfect for the summer months. Hopefully, you have already activated, as yesterday, September 14, 2024, was the last day to do so to get the elevated bonus points.
What are the new Chase Q4 Categories?
McDonalds, Paypal, Pet Shops, and Vet Services, and Select Charities
These are great categories for the upcoming holidays as many merchants allow you to pay with Paypal, so you may easily be able to earn additional points. Even better is that Mcdonald’s on these cards earn 2% so, you should be able to earn 7% instead of the 5%. I am most excited about PayPal especially because it has options to split your payments if needed and with the holidays coming up this can be very useful.
What Charities are included?
The Charities included for Chase Q4 are American Red Cross, Equal Justice Initiative, Feeding America, Habitat for Humanity, International Medical Corps, International Rescue Committee, Leadership Conference Education Fund, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, National Urban League, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, United Negro College Fund, UNICEF USA, United Way, World Central Kitchen, GLSEN, Out, and Equal and Sage.
How do I make sure I am earning the 5% for the Chase Q4 Categories on Chase Freedom and Chase Freedom Flex?
You need to activate the bonus categories and you can do that today! There are 6 ways to do that:
- Online: you can click here to activate
- Email: check your email for activation
- Chase Mobile App: log into the app to activate
- Phone: call the number on the back of your card and a customer service rep can activate it for you.
- Chase: you can speak to a teller to help you activate the categories.
- ATM: If you are a Chase checking customer, you can activate the categories when withdrawing money.

Is there a limit to how much you can earn from the Chase Q4 Categories?
Yes, you are limited to $1,500. This can be tracked on the website. Once you reach the limit, it goes back down to 1%.
Is there a deadline for activating Chase Freedom Q4 categories?
Yes, more than likely it will be around December 15, 2024. It has not been published yet but based on the past quarter this is my estimate. All purchases must be posted to your accounts by December 31, 2024, to receive the additional bonus points/cashback.

I would highly recommend activating this offer to boost your monthly earnings even if you are currently unsure about your spending in these categories. Using this strategy increased my points in the past few months when the categories were Hotels, Amazon, and Restaurants! This is a great way to start funding future travel.
