5 Tips for Heading to a New York Yankees Game
Enjoying a Baseball game is one of the perfect activities to add to your itinerary when visiting NYC. It’s a great activity for families to enjoy during their time that can provide a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are heading to the Bronx for a Yankees game, here are some tips to make your time less stressful.
1. Getting to Yankee Stadium
There are many ways to get to Yankee Stadium including the subway, bus, and car! If you plan to take the subway, plan for some extra time. The last few times I took the subway up the cars were so packed, I had to let a few go by before I could get on. In addition, I left the game early to make sure I could get home easily.
Most recently, I decided to drive to upper Harlem and then walk across the bridge! This made getting to and from the game easy. I was able to avoid the traffic getting out of the parking lots and the area near the stadium. The walk is only about 15 minutes.
2. Food and Drink at Yankee Stadium
I highly recommend using the Uber Eats App to order food during the game! The lines are typically long the entire game, so instead of missing parts of the games waiting in line, you can order through Uber Eats and walk right up to pick up your food!
When I did this at the last game I went to, it said I would have to wait about 10-20 minutes, but it was ready less than 5 minutes after ordering!
This is a great time to use your dining credit from your American Express Gold Credit Card if you have one!
3. Photo Opps
If you want photos of the field with little to no people in it. Wait until the end of the game and head down to the first level.
For a few minutes after the game, security let us take some group photos.
Your other option would be to go when gates open 90 minutes before the games start when there are fewer people so you can get great views of the field during that time as well.
4. Gear
If you did not bring any Yankees apparel with you and one to get some there are a few ways to get some at the game. Outside the stadium, people sell caps for $10 and jerseys for $80. They also have t-shirts and other items on their tables as well.
Inside is the Yankees Official Team store, but prices are significantly higher they have jackets, sweaters, and many other souvenirs you might want to purchase.
At some games, they give away items to the first couple thousand of fans. So that is a free way to get things.
5. Tickets
There are many places you can purchase tickets for a Yankees Game. You can head to the website, use the Game Time app and there are even people outside selling tickets. I am not sure of the authenticity of those tickets but that may be an option. I noticed that the ticket sales line the day of was really long so it would be helpful to buy tickets ahead of time. I often find deals on the Gametime app which may be useful for you to find tickets as well.

If you are in NYC during baseball season, I highly recommend attending a Yankees game! I love the energy in the crowd as the score gets close and seeing the wave start! Let me know what tips you would add to this list!
