Jet Lagged in Bangkok? 5 Exciting Excursions to Recharge!
Bangkok is an amazing city that draws you in as soon as you land. However, the Jet lag I felt from my almost 2-day journey caught up with me within a few hours of landing. I pushed myself to go out and explore the city the minute I landed so that my body could adjust to the new time zone.
Below you will find 5 things to do, that will easily fit into your schedule, as you wait for your body to adjust to the new time zone
5 Things to Do in Bangkok
1. Massage
I landed in Bangkok bright and early at 8 am. Once I got my checked bag, I called my Grab which took me to my hotel which was about 30 minutes away. Since my room was not ready, I changed in the bathroom and headed to a place nearby to get a Thai Massage.
Upon arrival, they gave me tea and a hot cloth while they washed my feet. Afterward, I headed upstairs for my 1-hour Thai massage that helped me stretch and relax after my long flight. I felt so refreshed after.
2. Mae Klong Railway Market
For my third day in Bangkok, I did a morning tour that included the Mae Klong Railway Market and the Floating Market.
The journey to get here took at least 90 minutes and upon arrival, the market was lively. People were selling jewelry, food, clothing, bags and so much more. We were given about an hour to explore and walked along the train tracks to the various booths bargaining to get the best price.
Once we arrived at the end of the station there were many food stands where we could grab refreshing drinks while we waited for the train that took us to the next stop. As the train approaches, you hear the train whistle and see the shops close their awnings. If you want a seat on the train make sure to hop on as soon as it stops.
3. Floating Market
This was the second stop on our combined tour, which you can book here. Upon arrival, we used the bathroom and then headed inside to be loaded onto our boat that would take us around the market.
As they row you through the market, you can signal to other boats to purchase items. Everything is sold from food to seasonings to clothing. There are even opportunities to stop and take pictures with snakes and monkeys.
I recommend grabbing snacks and drinks either while in the floating market or when you have time to walk the stalls that were not along the river. Once you finish here, you head back to Bangkok and the journey takes at least 90 minutes.
4. Buddhas and Temples
When visiting the numerous Buddhas and Temples in Bangkok, I would advise going earlier in the day so that you can go to all of them.
We went after the market tours and grabbed lunch causing us not to be able to see all of them, as many had closed for the day. However, the ones we did see, I was in awe. They are beautifully built and were amazing in person.
There are many ways to visit the Buddhas but keep in mind they are not all next to each other and you will need to take a ferry or cab to get to some of them if you are trying to get to them all in one day.
Make sure your shoulders and knees are covered. If they are not, you must either rent or purchase cover-ups.
5. Jodd Fair + Chatuchak Weekend Market
If you need anything, literally anything, the markets in Bangkok have it. After I was able to check into my room on my first day, a Saturday, I headed to the Chatuchak Weekend Market.
There are sooo many stalls and I honestly do not think I would have been able to see them all even in an entire weekend. I found some amazing artwork, and jewelry and even tried an amazing coconut smoothie I would highly recommend at Chatuchak Weekend Market. To read more about it, check my review of the Chatuchak Weekend Market.
On Sunday, we headed to Jodd Fairs market. This is smaller than Chatuchak and sells clothes, food, and many other items. They had massive seafood for purchase and even had insects you could eat.
I would recommend stopping by both markets if you have time.
Conclusion
There are so many things to do in Bangkok but these five activities were perfect for my jet lag during my 3 days in Bangkok. They allowed me to take my time and explore at my own pace. This ensured I could return to the room when I needed to nap before dinner and drinks until my body adjusted to the time zone.

I can certainly understand being jetlagged in Bangkok. Luckily we had been in SE Asia for awhile before we got to Bangkok. But a massage is a good way to relieve some travel stress at all time. Sadly we missed the floating markets when we visited. A good reason to return!
Those Bangkok excursions sound like the perfect cure for jet lag! The mix of adventure and relaxation is exactly what I need to recharge and explore the city. Thanks for sharing these great ideas!
Looks a great way to spend a few days in Thailand. I would not have thought to get a massage but now I can’t think of a better way to alleviate jet lag!
Bangkok is one of my favourite cities in the world. I miss Thai messages so much! This post makes me long for Thailand.
Such fun things to do, to get through jetlag. Although I would probably fall asleep during the massage.
